Brendan Steele’s Golf Swing

brendansteele2
Brendan Steele’s golf swing is yet another example of a swing that resembles those of the 1950s and 1960s — the flat plane of the left arm, the rotation of the hips in the backswing, the laid-off position at the top. It sounds like the description of Ben Hogan’s golf swing, doesn’t it?

Characteristics of Brendan Steele’s Golf Swing

• Strong grip

• Neutral stance

• Clubhead comes inside on the takeaway

• Rotation of the left forearm at the beginning of the backswing

• Bend of the left knee in the backswing

• Flat angle of the arms at the top of the backswing

• Laid off at the top

Note: if you have a thick chest or short arms, then a swing like Steele’s probably isn’t a good match for your body type.

Compare Brendan Steele’s Golf Swing To

• Raymond Floyd (laid-off position at the top)
Matt Kuchar (flat angle of the left arm)
Ben Hogan (flat angle of the left arm, rotation of the hips in the backswing, laid-off position at the top; a big difference between Steele and Hogan is that Steele plays with a strong grip, and Hogan did not)
